Grant Qualification for Energy Saving Technology:
The hatchery applied for and received a $36,000 grant from the USDA Office of Rural Development to replace their old heating and cooling system with R.A.S.E.R.S System™. They were also provided with a $36,000 guaranteed loan to purchase and install the equipment.

Energy Savings:
Testing at this commercial laundry and linen service shows an overall energy savings of 30%. Energy savings for preheating the water (before going into a natural gas boiler) shows a 63.6% savings. The owner has been able to de-rate the capacity of the gas-fired boiler from 1,000,000 BTU’s per hour to 650,000 BTU’s per hour – resulting in a 35% reduction in natural gas use.
Energy Savings Rebate:
R.A.S.E.R.S System™ was installed at a cost of $70,000. The system saves the facility $25,000 in energy costs per year, qualifying the it for a $20,000 rebate from their utility supplier (MidAmerica Energy).

According to an independent audit sponsored by the utility serving the restaurant, the R.A.S.E.R.S System™ is saving $8,600 a year in energy costs. It cost $24,000 to install.
In this restaurant, the system creates air conditioning in the seating area and puts the heat into the hot water. It also air conditions the kitchen ― even throughout the winter.
In addition, the R.A.S.E.R.S System™ takes heat from the kitchen exhaust vents. With that heat it first provides hot water; the second priority is providing space heating for the dining area.
